Our client is a US-based SaaS cybersecurity company building a platform that helps enterprise customers reduce risk, detect threats, and prevent breaches across the applications where modern businesses operate.
As the company continues to scale globally, they are establishing a long-term R&D hub in Ho Chi Minh City. The Vietnam team will work on core product and platform initiatives from day one, with increasing ownership over critical areas of the platform.
This is an opportunity to help build the founding engineering team, shape the technical standards and culture, and contribute to the long-term growth of a new R&D organization in Vietnam.


About the Role

We are looking for a Sr. Manager, R&D Site Leader to build and grow a high-performing engineering team in Ho Chi Minh City. You will lead a team working on large-scale distributed systems at the core of a SaaS security platform, ingesting, processing, and reasoning over data from hundreds of SaaS applications. This role is ideal for an engineering leader who combines strong people leadership with deep technical judgment. You will hire and develop engineers, set the technical bar, partner on architecture, and help establish the operating model of the Vietnam R&D hub from an early stage.


What You Will Do

  • Build and lead an engineering team responsible for large-scale distributed systems at the core of the platform.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop strong engineers, including senior ICs and future leaders.
  • Set technical direction, partner on architecture, and stay close enough to the code to make informed decisions.
  • Build a culture of high ownership, accountability, and velocity without compromising quality or team sustainability.
  • Set clear expectations, provide direct feedback, and support engineers in doing their best work.
  • Collaborate closely with global engineering, product, security research, and leadership teams.


What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering leadership.
  • Proven experience building engineering teams from the ground up or scaling teams significantly through periods of growth.
  • Strong track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining engineers and future leaders.
  • Deep technical experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems in production at scale.
  • Strong understanding of consistency, availability, fault tolerance, and operational complexity.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and Go. You do not need to code daily, but you should be comfortable reviewing pull requests and contributing to technical design decisions.
  • Experience handling complex leadership situations, including performance issues, organizational changes, conflicts, and ambiguous decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with engineers, product teams, and executive stakeholders.

Strong proficiency in English communication.
