Vehicle Repair Services Engineer

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Workplace Type: Onsite

About Our Client

Our client is a joint venture dedicated to accelerating Vietnam’s energy transition by investing in an end-to-end electric two-wheeler (E2W) mobility solution. They aim to deliver a seamless consumer experience powered by an integrated digital ecosystem.

Role Overview
The Vehicle Engineer / Mechanic is the technical hand of CGM on the vehicle and at the warehouse gate: technical acceptance of incoming parts, battery pack receiving check, vehicle inbound check and pairing, pre-dispatch PDI, tier-2 support to dealer technicians, internal repairs and the technical quality data that feeds the OEM.
The role works between the 3PL warehouse and the dealer network, on a roster set by the Aftersales Manager. Gate 2 technical decision; PDI pass or fail; inbound check pass or fail; internal repair execution within the approved tier.
The ideal candidate is a certified motorcycle or EV technician who works to a checklist, records what he does, and can explain a fault to a dealer technician over the phone.

1. Warehouse Acceptance — Parts, Batteries, Vehicles
  • Perform technical acceptance of incoming parts before goods receipt is approved: part number and supersession against the order, genuine label, condition by sample per line and 100% for high-voltage and electrical parts; segregate and photograph defective or wrong parts for the supplier claim.
  • Check battery packs on receipt per serial: count, serial against the shipment list, casing and ports, impact / water / heat indicators, error codes and state of charge on the diagnostic tool; report damage within 24 hours.
  • Perform the inbound vehicle check per VIN: visual and functional check, firmware, diagnostic read; pair battery packs to the vehicle and record pack serials; raise inbound defect claims with evidence within the OEM window.

2. Pre-dispatch PDI
  • Perform PDI per VIN on the PDI request: walkaround, packs and serials, firmware, no active fault code, charge state, accessories, open recall and bulletins applied.
  • Record the PDI pass reference per VIN; a vehicle does not leave the warehouse without it.
  • Route PDI failures to the internal repair order and report the failure cause for quality data.

3. Tier-2 Technical Support & Gate 2
  • Give tier-2 support to dealer technicians within the service level: diagnosis guidance, fault-code interpretation, repair method.
  • Make the Gate 2 decision before high-voltage work, BCU replacement, repeat failures and repairs above the value threshold.
  • Escalate tier-3 cases to the OEM technical channel with complete evidence; track the answer.

4. Internal Repairs & Demo Fleet
  • Repair transit-damaged, PDI-failed and returned units on an internal repair order, with cost recorded by tier; return the unit to stock as new.
  • Prepare, inspect and repair demo and test-ride units; keep demo and sales batteries separate.
  • Retire demo units on inspection for the Aftersales Manager's decision.

5. Quality Data & Technical Bulletins
  • Build the monthly quality pack with the Service Admin: tier-3 cases, repeat faults, claims by part, fault-code frequency, transit-repair log.
  • Draft technical service bulletins from field findings for the Aftersales Manager's approval.
  • Propose parts-master corrections from repair findings.

6. Battery Care & Field Support
  • Perform battery-care visits to dealer stock on the schedule set by the Aftersales Manager; swap and log packs; report deviations.
  • Support the Field Service & Training Specialist on site at dealers when rostered.
  • Handle battery referral cases at points within the rule: the pack is never opened at a point.

Qualification
  • Three levels: Junior (inbound check, PDI, internal repair under supervision) · Senior (tier-2 support, Gate 2 decision) · Chief (tier-3 escalation to the OEM, technical bulletins, quality pack lead) — level set on hiring by experience and certification
  • 3–6 years as a motorcycle, scooter or EV technician; electric two-wheeler or high-voltage experience strongly preferred
  • Able to pass the OEM high-voltage and diagnostic-tool certification within the first months
  • Comfortable with diagnostic software, firmware updates and structured checklists
  • Valid motorcycle licence; willing to travel within the city and work on a roster between warehouse and dealers
  • Basic written English for technical bulletins and OEM tickets; fluent Vietnamese
  • Vocational or technical diploma in automotive or electrical engineering

Personal Attributes
  • Precise and checklist-driven
  • Records what he does
  • Patient with dealer technicians
  • Safety-conscious around high-voltage systems
  • Hands-on and reliable
