Business Finance Manager

Location: Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

This role will play a key part in building a robust finance foundation for the JV, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash flow management, financial controls, statutory compliance, procurement governance, and performance tracking.

The role requires a strong balance of strategic finance capability and hands-on execution, with the ability to support a fast-growing business while maintaining financial discipline, transparency, and compliance with internal governance and local regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will work closely with leadership, external finance service providers, auditors, tax advisors, banks, and shareholder stakeholders to ensure sound financial management of the JV.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Planning, Budgeting & Performance Management

  • Lead annual business planning, budgeting, periodic forecasting, and long-range financial planning across the JV.
  • Develop robust financial models to support strategic decision-making, including business scenarios for pricing, market expansion, operating costs, capex deployment, and profitability pathways.
  • Track performance against budget, forecast, and business plan targets, highlighting variances, risks, and mitigation actions in a timely manner.
  • Establish management reporting processes that provide clear visibility on P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, capex, opex, and key operating/commercial KPIs.
  • Ensure financial plans are realistic, properly governed, and aligned with shareholder expectations and board-approved plans.

2. Business Finance, Pricing & Commercial Support

  • Lead or oversee pricing activities, including price modeling, margin analysis, financial evaluation, and approval coordination to ensure decisions support profitability and strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate commercial proposals, partnership arrangements, and investment cases to ensure they are financially sound and aligned with THE targets.
  • Develop and maintain costing models for products, operations, infrastructure, and services across both the JV and AssetCo.
  • Monitor and manage working capital requirements, including inventory, receivables, payables, deposits, and major commitments, and provide clear forecasts and intervention recommendations.
  • Support the business with data-driven financial insights to improve negotiation leverage with partners, suppliers, OEMs, and infrastructure counterparties.

3. Financial Reporting & Management Information

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Prepare management reporting packs for leadership and relevant shareholder stakeholders.
  • Monitor P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditure performance.
  • Maintain transparency on actuals, commitments, accruals, and forecast outlook.
  • Support preparation of board and shareholder finance materials where required.

4. Cashflow, Treasury & Working Capital Management

  • Manage cash flow planning and liquidity to ensure the JV has adequate funding to support operations and expansion activities.
  • Monitor bank accounts, payment schedules, funding requirements, and working capital utilization.
  • Support capital calls, funding requests, intercompany settlements, and shareholder-related finance processes where applicable.
  • Track receivables, payables, deposits, and other key cash movements to ensure sound financial discipline.
  • Drive working capital improvement and payment control processes.

5. Procurement Governance & Payment Control

  • Ensure purchase requests, purchase orders, vendor contracts, and payment processes are in line with approved budgets, delegated authorities, and governance requirements.
  • Review and challenge spend requests to ensure commercial soundness, budget availability, and proper supporting documentation.
  • Partner with business teams to improve purchasing discipline, commitment tracking, and cost visibility.
  • Monitor vendor payment timelines and cash commitments to support efficient working capital management.
  • Ensure one-time and recurring expenditures are clearly tracked and approved through the appropriate governance process.

6. Business Partnering

  • Act as a key finance business partner to commercial, operations, HR, and project teams.
  • Provide financial perspectives on business plans, channel investments, marketing activities, site development, and operational initiatives.
  • Support development of business cases, pricing logic, cost models, and profitability assessments.
  • Challenge assumptions constructively and help the business balance growth ambition with financial discipline.
  • Build financial awareness across the organization and support decision-making with fact-based analysis.

7. Audit, Tax & External Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring timely preparation of requested documentation and closure of audit actions.
  • Work with tax and accounting advisors to ensure tax compliance and efficient finance operations.
  • Manage relationships with banks, auditors, payroll providers, outsourced accounting firms, and other finance-related vendors.
  • Support implementation of finance policies, statutory processes, and local operating requirements for the JV.
  • Ensure proper documentation and financial records are maintained for compliance and governance purposes.


8. Systems, Processes & Finance Setup

  • Support finance process design and continuous improvement as the company builds and scales its operations.
  • Establish fit-for-purpose finance workflows covering budgeting, approvals, payments, reporting, and controls.
  • Work with internal teams and service providers to implement and improve finance systems, templates, trackers, and reporting tools.
  • Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to enhance control, efficiency, and visibility.
  • Contribute to building a lean, practical, and scalable finance operating model for the JV.


Key Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Professional finance qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent is strongly preferred.


Experience

  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant finance experience, with solid exposure to FP&A, accounting, financial control, and business partnering.
  • Prior experience in a finance manager or similar leadership role is preferred.
  • Experience in start-up, joint venture, fast-growing business, or new market setup environments is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in one or more relevant sectors is preferred: automotive, mobility, retail, infrastructure, energy, technology, or consumer-facing businesses.
  • Experience managing outsourced accounting/tax service providers, auditors, and local statutory compliance is highly preferred.
  • Experience working in Vietnam and understanding of local finance, tax, and compliance requirements is strongly preferred.
